The Future of Mobile Apps

In the last few years we have seen exponential growth in the smart phone sector.  Companies like Apple, LG, Samsung, Motorola HTC, Palm, Nokia and Blackberry are creating a competitive landscape and it is is still uncertain which device manufacturers will come out on top.  It is clear that Apple's iPhone, though not the first smart phone to market, has defined the standard for the smartphone. Google's Android has also created some healthy competition for Apple by providing the mobile OS as an open source standard.  With just under 4 billion mobile subscribers mobile devices are going to be to go to place to access the internet and gain access to unique content and applications.  As the space gets more crowded the consumers based on clear market drives will settle on devices and platforms that conform to their key requirements(e.g. as a business focus or an entertainment focus).  Access to markets is going to be the next war amongst smart phone device manufacturers and the pressure for carriers to provide networks that can handle the requirements of the smart phone user will be the only limiting factor.
